Juneteenth is one of the oldest celebrations of freedom. It began in Galveston, Texas in 1865 with the initiation of the Emancipation Proclamation which freed slaves in revolting states. People of all nationalities and ethnicities are welcome to attend this community picnic that commemorates the end of slavery and the beginning of African American equality, education, and achievement. This eventis free! It hosts local vendors, food, music, arts, crafts, and more!
